Designed by Enzo Mari in 1965, The Fable Game is an open-ended storytelling game that invites children and adults to create a new story every time they play.

The game includes six large, sturdy cards, each printed on both sides. Every card features a central illustration with connecting scenes above and below. By slotting the cards together in different combinations, children can build ever-changing landscapes and invent their own narratives, moving forwards, backwards or between scenes as the story unfolds.

The illustrations include more than seventy individual elements, including animals, trees, rocks, nests, eggs, the sun, moon, bamboo, an umbrella and many other familiar objects. With no fixed beginning or end, there is no single correct way to play. Each arrangement becomes the starting point for a different adventure, encouraging imagination, conversation and creative thinking.
